Gaggle of young Geese
The small lakes and surrounding fields at Broughton Crossing are something of a haven for water birds. Snipe, herons, canada geese and mute swans are resident much of the time. A couple of cormorants can also be seen on occassion, and in the past year I have also seen Teal, Tufted ducks, Swan Geese and a couple more breeds of unidentified duck.

The hedgerows too are home to some lesser seen bird life, and on a few occassions i've seen some keen birders setting up some expensive equipment to spot birds along a particular hedge. I managed to get a low quality photo of a blackcap here.

In the past year the lakes have become more popular with fishermen, and some of the wildlife, especially the rarer sightings won't be seen. But out of season they always come back.
