Get-a-map™ at Ordnance Survey

Multimap
One of the most popular free road / street map and route planning sites on the web. Also features include the ability to overlay the road map over aerial photos of the same place. Multimap has also achieved awards for its innovation in online mapping. Visit Multimap here.
Google Earth
Google Earth is an excellent free software download. Not strictly speaking online, but deserving of a mention. Basically Google Earth is an interactive globe in which you can zoom in to any point on the globe. At its best you can see individual cars and boats, though coverage is not always so clear. Google Earth is free and can be downloaded here, if you have an older PC you may have to check the system requirements and download anything necessary; i recommend directx if you don't already have it. Old Maps

OS Landranger Map 1:50 000 scale
An all purpose map packed full of information to help you really get to know an area. The 204 Landranger maps cover the country. Each map covers an area of 40 km by 40 km (25 miles by 25 miles) and like other Ordnance Survey maps, National Grid squares are provided so that any feature can be given a unique reference number.
